Gyeyang Sanseong, Incheon Gyeyang-gu: Inpenetrable Stronghold of Gyeyang-gu

Gyeyang Sanseong (Hanja: 桂陽山城) was known as Gosanseong (Gosan Fortress), and is located at the 280m spot of the eastern ridgeline of the Mount Gyeyang (Specific location: Gyesan 2-dong san 10-1 beonji, Incheon Gyeyang-gu). The fortress is the trademark of Incheon Gyeyang-gu

Designated as 10th Incheon Metropolitan Intangible Treasure, it is recorded in “Jeungbo Munheon Bigo/증보문헌비고” that this castle was built in a defensive fortress in Samguk Period and the circumference is 1,937 cheok (587m), but now it is abandoned for a long time.

Considering that Jungikjin (중익진) was established in Byeongbang-dong, just beneath of Gyeyang Sanseong which was built in the reigning years of King Sejo of Joseon Dynasty, it had played its role as a defensive perimeter in Bupyeong Protectorate Area since Samguk Period
