Eulji Observatory, Yanggu, Gangwon Province: General Eulji have witnessed a bitter taste of Korean Division.

Eulji Observatory (Hanja: 乙支展望臺) in Ihyeon-ri, Haean-myeon, Yanggu County, Gangwon Province is located 1,049m above sea level and is one of the most tragic battlegrounds of the Korean War (1950~1953). This observatory is bestowed from Eulji Mundeok, a Goguryeo General who saved the Goguryeo Kingdom from invading Chinese Sui Forces. It is controlled by 12th Infantry Division (Codename: Eulji) of Korean Republic Army Third Corps (Codename: Mountains/산악부대/San-ak Budae).

From the tower, visitors can see the checkpoint, the farms in North Korea, and four peaks including Birobong, the highest on peak on Mt. Kumgang in the neighboring DPRK's Gangwon Province. North Korea soldiers on guard are also visible and on clear days. Every year over one hundred thousand people visit this observation platform at the DMZ.
